Our Founder
A pain-free life should be everyone’s expectation in their youth, so when my own pain became acute in my late 20’s, it was time to find a way to conquer it. As a horse rider and Taekwondo champion I knew my body well, and realised that going under the knife was not the right option for me. A great physio friend introduced me to Reformer Pilates and I was hooked – and more importantly, pain-free.
What started as an expensive hobby soon became a passion, and it wasn’t long before I was exploring becoming a Pilates teacher in order to learn more. However, without a background as a dancer, or a physio, or even a naturally flexible person I found it hard to find someone to train me. I eventually came across the inspirational husband and wife duo Martin and Heather Sampson. Their teaching enabled me to see that helping others to find a path back from living with pain was the next step of my own Pilates journey, and for 14 years I ran my own studio.
So why not just keep running a traditional studio? The truth is that I couldn’t do all that I wanted to within the constraints of small, expensive classes, using what felt like an antiquated piece of kit. When Covid hit, and I could no longer teach anyone, I realised that the time it created was an opportunity. If I wanted to truly change Pilates, and make it accessible for everyone, now was my opportunity and the Nuforma® came into being.
With the Nuforma® I’ve taken the technical and made it simple. We’ve taken a timetable and literally ripped it up to let you write your own. And we’ve opened it up to many by making it cost-effective and accessible.
